A funeral home has apologized after a body fell from a hearse and ended up in traffic.

Hades Funeral Service in Stalowa Wola, south-eastern Poland, was transporting the body when a “technical fault” with the car’s lock caused the body to suddenly fall out.

Polish media reported that a man driving down the street thought he had hit someone after seeing a body on the road.

Meanwhile, local media widely circulated an image of a corpse lying on the pedestrian crossing where he fell.

Hades Funeral Service has since posted a statement on its website apologizing for the incident.
